Seamer Gus Atkinson Compounds England's Injury Concerns.

'Significant concern' for the English camp as Atkinson goes off with a hamstring injury.

The English seamer further complicated the injury concerns plaguing England when he left the playing area on the second morning of the fourth Ashes Test in the Ashes series.

Atkinson pulled up with his left hamstring immediately following a delivery in his spell at the MCG.

The touring camp indicated Atkinson reported "discomfort" and was to take time on the sidelines in order to be assessed "over the next few hours".

The final Test in this Ashes battle at the SCG begins at the end of the week.

The visitors have already lost fast bowlers Mark Wood with a knee problem and another paceman because of a side injury during this series.

A replacement bowler was called up as cover for Wood.

Atkinson struggled early in the series, claiming a mere a handful of scalps.

He was omitted from the previous Test, before being recalled for the Melbourne Test to fill the void.

Atkinson improved at the MCG, claiming a couple of wickets with the ball, and scoring 28 runs as a batsman being one of only three England players to get into double digits.

Post a single over at the end of day one, he returned the next day and had nightwatchman edging to the keeper.

Yet, at the end of that over, he bowled a change of pace to the batsman and promptly felt his left hamstring.

Gus Atkinson was recalled for the Boxing Day Test having missed the Adelaide game.
